In Murfreesboro, Alex Poythress scored a career-high 47 points, hauled in 17 rebounds, and blocked nine shots as the Northeast Eagles warded off upset-minded LaVergne 79-69 in double overtime in the opening game of the State Farm Holiday Tournament at Riverdale.

(Game 2) Kenwood 75, Cheatham County 43
- Northwest suffered a 101-41 loss to unbeaten Dyer County High School in the opening game of the 2011 Queen City Christmas Tournament at Kenwood.
- In the nightcap, Kenwood dispatched Cheatham County 75-43. With the win, the Knights improved to 10-1 on the year.

Memphis Central 66, Rossview 31
- In the lone only girls game of the day, Rossview fell from the undefeated ranks and lost to Memphis Central 66-31 at State Farm Holiday Tournament at Riverdale. Janie White posted 11 points and Caitlin Campbell added eight in the loss.
