Man Shot in the Hand After Trying to Buy Drugs

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On December 23rd, 2011, around 3:30am, a 23 year old man got dropped off by a friend at the 800 Block of Peachers Mill Road to buy some marijuana. But, the transaction did not take place as he anticipated.

Two males showed up with their faces covered, one displayed a handgun, and demanded his money. The 23 year old grabbed the barrel of the gun and at some point, the firearm was discharged and the male sustained a gunshot wound to the hand.

The two men fled from the scene without getting anything from the victim. The 23 year old called his friend to give him a ride to the emergency room to be treated. Police were called by the hospital upon the man’s arrival for treatment of the gunshot wound.

Initially, the victim told Police, two men demanded money and shot him for no reason.  But, he finally recanted and told officers the truth about the drug transaction gone bad.

The 23 year old was treated and released.

The investigation is ongoing and Detective Hurst is the lead investigator.
