Car Crash Sends a Teenager to Vanderbilt with Head Injury

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On January 2nd, 2012, around 10:17pm, Clarksville Police officers responded to a single vehicle crash near 1897 Madison Street with five people inside.

According to the occupants of the 2009 Pontiac G-3 Hatchback, the vehicle driven by a 19 year old, made a left turn out of KFC’s parking lot, headed east on Madison Street, the vehicle hit a curb, left the roadway, and struck a utility pole.

There were five occupants, four males and one female inside of the vehicle, ages ranging from 15-20 years old. All occupants are from Clarksville.

A 19 year old male sitting in the center backseat position, was not wearing a seatbelt and was launched forward into the windshield when the vehicle hit the pole. He sustained head injuries and was taken by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt. He is in stable condition.

The other occupants of the vehicle said they were wearing seatbelts and were either uninjured or had minor abrasions. 

The investigation is in the early stages and very little verifiable information is available.
