Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team opens the 2011-12 season with a 3:00pm, Monday, match at Southeastern Conference Vanderbilt.

“We just brought in three new players and are hoping to get a few practices in before Monday,” head coach Malik Tabet said. “This match is going to be more of an evaluation than a situation where we’re going to be looking for a result. We try to play teams of a high caliber early because the good competition helps to expose your weaknesses.”

Tabet, in particular, will be looking to evaluate three new freshman – Ornella Di Salvo, Jovana Karac and Alison Carre.

Vanderbilt opened its season with wins against Lipscomb and Miami (Ohio). Jackie Wu is 2-0 at No. 1 singles, while the rest of the lineup has been in flux. As a team, Vandy is 4-1 in doubles play.
