Hopkinsville Robbery Suspects Bail Out After Entering Clarksville

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriffs Office, and Nashville Metro Police Department provided assistance to Kentucky law enforcement agencies attempting to apprehend robbery suspects that held up AC Automotive in Hopkinsville, KY.

On January 30th, 2012, around 4:55pm, four men armed with handguns robbed AC Automotive on East 9th Street in Hopkinsville, KY. Two people were pistol-whipped during the commission of the robbery.

Hopkinsville Police issued a “Be on the Lookout” for the vehicle and suspects. An Oak Grove Police Department officer spotted and pursued the vehicle on I-24 east and the four suspects bailed out of a red Ford Focus shortly after the vehicle crossed the Kentucky state line into Clarksville around 5:15pm.

 

There was an exchange of gunfire between the Oak Grove Police officer and the suspect(s). The officer was not hit by the gunfire and it does not appear as any of the robbery suspects were hit.

One man was quickly apprehended, but the other three disappeared into the wood line off the interstate heading toward the Barkers Mill area. The area was flooded with law enforcement officers and K-9 from Tennessee and Kentucky trying to locate the suspects.

Nashville Metro Police Department’s aviation dispatched a helicopter to assist with the search operations, but the three men were not located. The mass search operation was broken down around 8:30pm.

Clarksville Police Department and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office’s are continuing the local search for the suspects during the course of their normal patrol operations.
