The book encompasses the years of Clarksville’s occupation by Federal troops following the fall of Forts Henry and Donelson. The major “players” of the event and the eyewitnesses are examined. The book is a nearly day-to-day chronicle of the occupation by using journals, diaries, and letters of Clarksville citizens, Federal and Confederate officers/troops and newspaper accounts. Readers will get a true sense of what it was like when Clarksville was occupied.
