Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On February 16th, 2012, around 9:00pm, Clarksville Police officers were called to 171 Wallace Boulevard for a welfare check of the children living in an apartment.

Officer Jeff Danault arrived and contacted the residents, Aaron Miller and Caroline Gregory. He could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside of the apartment. When officers entered the residence, they found almost a quarter pound of marijuana, pills, drug paraphernalia and a partially burnt marijuana cigarette and a blunt.

Also, while officers were speaking to Aaron Miller, they found he was sitting on a sweatshirt that was concealing a loaded handgun.

Officers checked on the welfare of Aaron Miller’s two children in the residence and found a two year old male child that had several injuries. He had a large laceration on the back of his head that appeared to be several days old, both ears swollen, bruising to the forearm and buttocks, and several facial abrasions.

During an interview with Detective Demone Chestnut, Caroline Gregory, admitted to causing the severe bruising/lacerations to the head and ears when she forcibly snatched the child from a bed. She also admitted to causing the extreme bruising to the buttocks when she spanked the child.

Neither Miller or Gregory sought medical attention for the injured child, thereby, adversely affecting the child’s welfare. The child was transported by ambulance to Vanderbilt for treatment of his injuries.

The other child, a seven year old female, appeared to be healthy and uninjured. DCS was contacted and the children were turned over to state’s custody.
