Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Students from Austin Peay State University will be competing in the local challenge CFA Institute Research Challenge on March 5th in Nashville, TN.

Last year, nearly 2,500 students from more than 546 universities in 45 countries participated in the CFA Institute Research Challenge, a global competition that tests students’ analytic, valuation, report writing and presentation skills. The CFA societies will host challenges with nearby universities and select one winning team based on the students’ research report and presentation.

The members that make up the team representing APSU are Brandon Bridges, David L. Ward, Kathryn Matheny, Aksana Mathieson and Paul Demilia. If the students advance from the local level, they will attend a regional competition on April 10th in New York City. 1. I would like to thank Dr. Mike Phillips for the hundreds of hours he put into this College of Business “passion activity.” The students, who are undergraduates, did an excellent job and we were able to compete with Vanderbilt graduate students who won the local CFA competition.

I also want to thank Dr. John Volker. He spent considerable time creating video recordings of the presentation to help the students sharpen their considerable skills. His insights were invaluable.

FYI – COB “passion activities” are student activities outside the normal curriculum that help our students discover and pursue their passion. It’s in our mission -check us out on Facebook – Austin Peay College of Business.

    Thanks again,
    Stratman
