Alabama A&M (5-8) opened Southwestern Athletic Conference action last weekend, suffering a three-game sweep at Alabama State. Sophomore catcher Chris Thomas leads the Bulldogs with a .368 batting average. Juan Lopez leads the Alabama A&M regulars with a .244 batting average and five RBI.

Austin Peay and Alabama A&M met once last season, the Govs winning an 11-4 contest that was part of the Riverview Inn Invitational.
