APSU Sports: Austin Peay women’s Soccer
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team has added Melissa Fletcher, of Dade City, FL, to its 2012 recruiting class.
Fletcher joins Regan Colaner, a 5-3 midfielder/defender, and Nicole Filippone, a 5-4 goalkeeper, as part of the incoming 2012 class. Although the Lady Govs return the core of their team, head coach Kelley Guth is excited about the depth offered by Fletcher and the rest of the incoming group.
At Pasco High School, Fletcher has been a dynamic forward for the Pirates, scoring 21 goals in three seasons. Guth anticipates Fletcher will join an already dangerous Lady Govs frontline that includes three All-OVC players in Tatiana Ariza, Natalia Ariza and Emily Perkins.“Melissa is a great addition to our team,” Guth said. “She has great speed and a tremendous work ethic. She’s the type of player that makes things happen in the attack. Melissa has a nose for the goal and we expect that she’ll be a threatening player that can add a spark to our offense.”
Austin Peay also looks to return Morgan Zigelsky and Claire Pultz, who both missed significant time in 2011 with injuries.
