Kendall Anne Thompson – A Year at the Roxy Regional Theatre

Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – Kendall Anne Thompson first graced the stage of the Roxy Regional Theatre on September 17th, 2010 as the green girl in “SHOUT! The Mod Musical”. Her natural charisma, charm and talent made her an instant favorite of Roxy patrons.

“She will forever be known to Roxy fans as ‘The Green Girl,’ a moniker she justifiably won while performing her star turn last season in ‘Shout: The Mod Musical’” stated John McDonald.

Thompson concluded a year long run at the Roxy October 15th, in the production of “Beehive”. I sat down with her before the show and did a video interview where she gives her thoughts on working at the Roxy as well as living in Clarksville Tennessee.

“I guess how I got started was a friend of mine, Greg Pember, that I went to acting school with, was asked by the Roxy to play Hamlet this past season and they needed an Ophelia. So I decided to submit my head shot, resume and cover letter hoping that Tom and John would ask me to be in their show because I had heard such great things about the theatre.” said Thompson.

“And it turns out that, once they got my packet of information one of the girls unfortunately could not do the green girl in “Shout!” and they asked if I was available.” stated Thompson. “So I packed my bags from New York City and flew down here to the Roxy.”

Then in July 2010, Kendall Anne Thompson got the starring role in “The Sound of Music” playing Maria Rainer, a character made famous by Julie Andrews in the 1965 movie. Large shoes for anyone to fill.

Thompson put on her best performance to date, captivating the audience with her acting skills, vocal talent and dynamic facial expressions that perfectly portrayed the emotions of the character. “The Sound of Music” was one of those magical productions were all the actors, actresses and von Trapp children meshed beautifully which created a magical experience where the audience was whisked back in time to 1930’s Austria, feeling themselves part of the scenes taking place on stage.

Kendall Anne was a large part of that magic. Taking a large role and making it her own. Creating a strong, commanding stage presence for her character.

Thompson was in the following Roxy productions last season: Beehive, The Sound of Music (Maria), Almost Heaven, The Civil War, Bea(u)tiful in the Extreme (Sacagawea), Doubt (Sister James), Hamlet (Ophelia), A Christmas Carol (Belle/Mary), Tape (Amy), Around the World in 80 Days (Aouda), Dracula (Vampire girl), and Shout.

Kendall Anne Thompson is just one example of talented actors and actresses the Roxy Regional Theatre brings to Clarksville and puts on stage weekly for the community’s enjoyment. If you have not been to the Roxy or have not been lately, treat yourself out one night to an enjoyable entertainment experience.
