Fort Campbell Based 5th Special Forces Group Soldier Killed in North Clarksville Shooting

5th Special ForcesFort Bragg, NC – A U.S. Special Forces Soldier was killed during a non-military related incident in Clarksville, TN, on March 15th.

Sergeant First Class Frederic N. Moses, 26, died from gunshot wounds sustained during an incident with another Soldier. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), which is leading the investigation, charged Sgt. Benjamin Schweitzer with criminal homicide today.

Both Moses and Schweitzer were assigned to 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Campbell, Ky.

Moses was born in St. Charles, Mo., and joined the Army in 2004 with a Special Forces enlistment option. After completing Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training he attended and graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course. He was assigned to 5th SFG (A) in November 2006, serving as a Communications Sergeant.

Moses completed four total combat deployments: three to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. He returned from his most recent combat tour supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in February 2012.

Moses’ awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, and Army Achievement Medal. Other decorations include the Special Forces Tab, Ranger Tab, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Parachutist Badge.

Moses is survived by his parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
