Health Insurance Tax Breaks for the Self-Employed

Clarksville News and Updates for March 25th

 

Clarksville City Council - Ward 10Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Street Department is offering to pick up yard debris, leaves and limbs for Clarksville residents. Leaves must be collected and placed in biodegradable paper bags and placed near the street for collection.

Tree limbs must be 6’ or less in length and the Street Department will not pick up limbs in cases where a company has pruned trees.  The service will continue through April 16th, 2012. Rivers and Spires 2012 Miss River Queen and Miss River Teen Crowned at Austin Peay State University Saturday

 

Rivers and Spires Festival 2012Clarksville, TN – Tara Zolfagharbik has been named Miss River Queen 2012, while Caitlin Campbell will reign as the new Miss River Teen. The new title holders were crowned at the pageants held Saturday, March 24th at Austin Peay State University’s Clement Auditorium.

The pair will reign over the Rivers and Spires Festival in downtown Clarksville, April 19th-21st, making numerous appearances, signing autographs and participating in Festival events.

Clarksville Gas and Water Department reports Parker Drive Water Outage

Clarksville Gas and Water DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has turned off water service on Parker Drive and Orman Drive to repair a six-inch water main leak. The outage will last until approximately 4:30pm.

The roads are open to traffic.

Austin Peay State University History Department helps remember War of 1812 at local conference

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – In terms of notoriety, the War of 1812 isn’t nearly as popular with the general public as, say, the American Revolution or the Civil War.

But the conflict did have a pivotal impact on the United States, giving us the national anthem, Gen. Andrew Jackson and even Tennessee’s nickname as the “Volunteer State.”

Dr. Kristofer Ray, APSU assistant professor of history, Deanna Carter, APSU graduate student, and Dr. Donald Hickey, Wayne State College professor of history, meet at the Tennessee, the Atlantic World and the War of 1812 symposium in Nashville.
