The Govs three-round 572 is two shots ahead of Arkansas-Little (574) and nine shots in front of third-place Jacksonville State (581). Vanderbilt, Troy and Meridian Community College are all tied for fourth at 583.

Head coach Kirk Kayden was expecting the Govs experience at RidgePointe to pay off, with three players – Dustin Korte, Anthony Bradley and Marco Iten – having previously played the course. His hunch was on target as the Govs managed 10 rounds without a score higher than 74.

Tucker Wallace“It’s a lot of fun when all five players are in the mix,” head coach Kirk Kayden said. “We played well today. We actually had a few moments where we were way out in front and let the pack catch back up with us.”

Wallace tied his season-best score with a second-round 69 – the second career round in the 60s for the freshman – providing the Govs a necessary boost to take the 36-hole lead. Wallace took advantage of the par-5s, making eagle on No. 12 and making birdie on his final hole, No. 5. His one-under par (72-69) 141 has him tied for fifth.

Anthony BradleyBradley is behind the Wallace in a group of four players tied for 12th with a one-over par (70-73) 143. Iten is one of eight players tied for 16th at two-over par (74-70). Trey Tarpley is t-24th at three-over par (73-72) while Korte is t-33rd at four-over par.

As far as the rest of the Ohio Valley Conference, Tennessee State is t-8th at 589, Eastern Illinois is t-10th at 590, UT Martin is 16th at 597, SIU Edwardsville is 17th at 600 and Murray State is 20th at 609.

“We’re going to have a good pairing tomorrow,” Kayden said, “playing alongside Arkansas Little-Rock and Jacksonville State. The key for us is going to be playing smart and closing this thing out.”

The tournament concludes with an 18-hole final round, Tuesday, beginning with a 8:00am shotgun start.
