Experience Junior Explorer Day and Spring Break Week at Land Between the Lakes Nature Station

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Looking for something to do with the children over spring break?  Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area offers a variety of exciting events for all ages during Junior Explorer Day on Saturday, April 7th and Spring Break Week April 8th-13th at Nature Station.

Spring is a great time to visit Woodlands Nature Station (NS), located in the north end of LBL.

“Come out and enjoy Nature Station’s wildlife programs and outdoor activities,” said Carrie Szwed, Public Programs Coordinator for NS.  “These programs offer family outdoor adventure while providing valuable learning experiences.”

Programs offered Saturday, April 7th during Junior Explorer Day at Nature Station include:

11:00am – “Signs of the Spring Season” Hike

1:00pm – Hooray for Herps: Reptiles and Amphibians

3:00pm – True North: Beginner Compass Skills

Programs offered Sunday – Friday, April 8th-13th during Spring Break Week at Nature Station include:

Sunday, 3:00pm – Easter Baskets for the Animals

Monday, 2:15pm – Egg-cellent Eggs

Tuesday, 2:15pm – Going Frog Wild!

Wednesday, 2:15pm – Nature’s Calling: The Study of Scat

Thursday, 2:15pm – The Most Incredible Insects

Friday, 1:00pm-3:30pm – Pond Prowl

Purchase an LBL Fun Card this spring for discounted general admissions to our day-use facilities. Fun Cards with 10 visits are $30.00 and can be used at The Homeplace, Golden Pond Planetarium, and Nature Station in any combination of visits.

During special events, when additional fees are charged for admission, the Fun Card may be used toward the total admission cost. The cardholder simply pays the difference for either an adult or child admission for the special program.

Land Between The Lakes is managed by the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, in partnership with “Friends of LBL,” to provide public lands outdoor recreation and environmental education.
