APSU Sports: Austin Peay Baseball
Charleston, IL – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team will have to wait a day to start its Ohio Valley Conference series at Eastern Illinois after Thursday’s opener was postponed due to poor field conditions.
The two teams will play a doubleheader beginning at noon, Friday. Under new rules adopted by the OVC this season, that doubleheader will be composed of two nine-inning contests. The series is scheduled to conclude with a 1:00pm, Saturday contest.
Austin Peay enters the contest with a 6-0 OVC mark and is off to its best start in league play since the 2004 season. Eastern Illinois stands at 3-3 but boasts the OVC’s top pitching staff.
