First Advantage Bank sponsors Golf Tournament to benefit Wounded Warriors

First Advantage BankClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Golf Association has announced their first tournament of the year with a two day event at Fort Campbell’s Cole Park Golf course, April 21st-22nd.   The two-person “trifecta”, sponsored by First Advantage Bank, will feature a unique format that golfers will enjoy playing.

Tournament director, and CGA board member John Ignacio, said the golf association wanted a tournament in April, and wanted to help provide support to Cole Park for their work with the wounded warriors.  “The golf pro at Fort Campbell provides assistance to soldiers returning from the war zone who have been injured, and want to continue playing the game of golf.  We’re going to support their efforts by organizing and running this tournament.  Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Wounded Warriors.”

The Clarksville Golf Association sponsors all of the major amateur golf tournaments in Clarksville.  The proceeds of those tournaments are given back to the community in some way.  “We approached First Advantage Bank with the idea of sponsoring this tournament, and we can’t thank Jim Durrett and Randy Clouser enough” said Ignacio.

The trifecta format requires that each two person team plays eighteen holes of golf.  The first six holes is played “best ball.”  Both golfers play their own ball and the team takes the best score on each hole.  The next six holes is a “scramble” format.  The team plays the best shot on each hole to record their score.  Then, the final six holes is “alternate shot.”  Ignacio calls this, “hate your partner” golf.  Each player tees off on the first hole, then they alternate shots until the ball is holed.  “That part of the format is usually the most challenging” Ignacio said.  “But it’s a lot of fun.”

Entry forms are available at all area pro shops, including the Links at Novadell.  Entry fee is $110.00 per person.  The tournament will be flighted after the first round.  Winners receive gift certificates redeemable at Golf Park Golf Course.

The field is limited, so get your entry forms in early.  Golfers will be able to enter the base through Gate 1.

Exclusive coverage of the final round of the tournament can be heard on 1400 WJZM.  Complete coverage of scores and photos will be available at www.clarksvillesportsnetwork.com, and www.clarksvilleonline.com.
