Revised Schedule for Clarksville Department Budget Hearings for Monday, April 23rd, 2012

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan has been asked to testify at a Senate committee hearing in the General Assembly Monday, April 23rd, 2012 at 10:00am. on a legislative matter that is important to Clarksville.

As a result, the schedule for the Clarksville City Department Budget hearings is being revised.

“I have been working with our legislative delegation on a piece of legislation that will keep more tourist dollars in our City and County that we can use for continued growth and development.” stated Mayor McMillan.

“The potential economic development and opportunities that will flow from this bill, known as the ‘Border Region’ bill, is tremendous and I believe it’s important that I testify before the Senate committee.  I have already appeared before the House committee and discussed the bill’s positive impact,” explained Mayor McMillan.  “Because time is a factor for the General Assembly at this time of year, we don’t have the option of rescheduling the Senate committee hearing.”

All of the Department’s that were originally scheduled to appear in budget hearings will still be heard on Monday; however, the hearings will begin at 1:00pm rather than 9:00am.

“I appreciate the Fire and Police Chiefs for so readily understanding and supporting my efforts with this legislative matter and their cooperation in moving their budget hearings to the afternoon,” the Mayor said.

“I also want to remind the citizens of Clarksville that they are welcome and encouraged to attend these budget hearings. We are setting the fiscal priorities of the City through this process and I believe it is vital that everyone has the opportunity to hear these presentations,” the Mayor said.
