APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Golf
Dickson, TN – Austin Peay State University junior golfer Lauren Bond has been named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer team, announced Sunday night at the annual OVC Golf Awards banquet following the first round of the conference championship tournament.
The transfer from John A. Logan provided a much-needed lift to a young Lady Govs’ team in 2011-12.
Nine of her 19 rounds at the Division I level have been lower than 80, including an even-par 72 in last fall’s Drake Creek Invitational.
Overall in her first season as a Lady Govs, Bond was averaging 81.1 strokes per round entering Sunday’s first round of the OVC tournament.
“Lauren has worked very hard and deserves to be named to the OVC All-newcomer team,” APSU coach Sara Robson said.
“She is dedicated to her game, our team and to becoming the best golfer she can. We are excited for her and the way she represents our program.”
Bond was the only Lady Gov to gain All-OVC recognition, Sunday night.
