Three Lady Govs improved their standings in the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor best lists. Junior Chantelle Grey climbed to third in the 800-meter standings, sophomore Taelor Slaughter moved into seventh in the 400-meter hurdles while freshman Lauren Lyles is now eighth in the long jump.

“We had a real nice effort this weekend,” head coach Doug Molnar said. “We try to use events like this to get us ready for the conference meet and it was good to come away with some personal bests. Now, we have to continue working and climbing the OVC charts before the conference meet.”

Chantelle GreyGrey finished third in the 800-meter dash at 2:06.95, just behind Eastern Illinois’ Megan Gingerich (2:06.82) who ranks second on the OVC list. For Grey it was almost a two second improvement from last weeks’ time at the Sea Ray Relays.

Slaughter’s eighth-place finish at Vandy was her best race finish, while her 1:05.36 time was the Lady Govs season’s best in the event. She also ran the second leg of the Lady Govs 1600-meter relay team that finished fourth at 3:51.62, with Grey running the final leg.

Janelle AveryLyles proved again her success in the long jump against Southeastern Conference competition. She extended her previous mark of 5.55m, set at Ole Miss, to a season-best 5.57m. Lyles also ran her second-fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing 10th at 14.86.

In other notable finishes, three Lady Govs set personal-bests marks in the 1500-meter run – senior Janelle Avery, sophomore Kendra Kirksey and senior Alyssa Molnar. In the 400-meter dash, Kelly Colbert and Tiffany White had personal bests while Alyx Pinkston had a personal-best in the 200-meters.
