USAA Military Spouse Appreciation Week Registration Deadline extended to May 3rd

Morale, Welfare and RecreationFort Campbell, KY – The registration deadline for the USAA Military Spouse Appreciation Week, which runs May 7th to 11th, 2012, has been extended through midnight May 3rd, 2012.

Military Spouses are an invaluable asset to the Army. They support their Soldiers though mission, deployment, reintegration and reset, and keep the home fires burning. The Army recognizes the support and sacrifices made with Military Spouse Appreciation Day May 7th, 2012.

USAA Military Spouse Appreciation Week is May 7th-11th, 2012

Fort Campbell will express gratitude to Spouses in a week’s worth of events and activities from May 7th through May 11th, 2012. This year’s theme “Bloom Where You Are Planted” embodies the understanding that military Spouses may get uprooted frequently through PCS moves, but they personally develop and grow from their experiences and sacrifices in each new environment.

Events kick off May 7th with the Military Spouse Workshop Day at 8:15am in the Family Resource Center (FRC). The Workshop Day is full of activities that will uplift, enlighten and motivate Spouses.

Maria McConville, wife of Maj. Gen. James C. McConville, commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and senior installation commander of Fort Campbell, KY, will be the guest speaker and give opening remarks at this event.

Throughout the day, Spouses can participate in four different seminars. Seminar topics range from basic auto care, Federal job opportunities using USA Staffing, Americana crafts, to much more.

Registration is required prior to the event and some seminars will have additional fees. Childcare and lunch will be provided.

Additional Military Spouse Appreciation Week activities include:

May 8th: Special guest Chef Jon Ashton will host two Cooking Shows from 10:00am to noon and 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the FRC. The Cooking Show is limited to 150 spots.

May 9th: Fashion Shows, presented by The Exchange and Fort Campbell Family and MWR, will take place from 10:00am and 5:30pm at the Joe Swing Recreation Center. The Fashion Show is limited to 150 spots.
