The Eta Tau Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at Austin Peay State University Celebrates 40 Years of Brotherhood

Clarksville, TN – One hundred and fifty Pike Brothers, Little Sisters, friends and guests gathered at the Tanglewood House in Clarksville on Saturday April 28th, 2012 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the founding of the Eta Tau Chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at Austin Peay State University.

Attendees enjoyed a wonderful dinner; an evening of dancing with entertainment provided by Eta Tau Chapter Founding Father Jim Scott; and and a silent auction.

Alumni Association President Tom Mink presented the first Hugh Akerman Alumni of the Year Award to Brother Scott Beasley for his tireless efforts with “The PKA Waggle Golf Tournament” which has raised over $13,000 for our local Humane Society. This year’s event will beheld July 14 at the Swan Lake Golf Course followed by their annual BBQ.

Past President Luke Yeager was presented a plaque for his leadership and dedication as President from 2010 to 2012.

Brother Randy Vess was presented the Distinguished Service Award for his tireless work and hours spent on behalf of the Pi Kappa Alpha Eta Tau Alumni Association as Secretary.

Alumni Association plans to reopen local Pi Kappa Alpha Chapter*

Alumni of the Eta Tau Chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity (PIKE) plan to re-colonize by Spring 2014 after the chapter shutting down in January 2010 due to lower membership, and financial obligations getting to be too large.

To re-colonize the Eta Tau chapter they must go through a trial period to make sure the national standards for local chapter houses are met. “Then they can be established as a PIKE. Nothing is guaranteed, everything is earned,” said former President of the Eta Tau Alumni Association, Luke Yaeger.

Forty years worth of Eta Tau alumni are backing the re-colonization by raising money, and helping plan out the reorganization process. “The alumni are ready and active. We’ve been running and gunning ever since,” said Bill Gregoricus, first president of the fraternity before it became a chapter.

The Alumni Association is currently in the process of closing on a new Pi Kappa Alpha Chapter house which will be located adjacent to Austin Peay State University on Main Street. The new chapter house is being purchased using funds from the sale of the former chapter house, and fund-raising by alumni association members.
