The week-long celebration honors the service of  Fort Campbell’s soldiers, the sacrifices that their families make, and it gives local residents and businesses a chance to personally say “Thank You” to soldiers for their service and sacrifice.

This year’s Signature Warrior Week events included the annual wreath laying at the Eternal Flame monument on Public Square; A Marksmanship Competition at the Montgomery County Shooting Complex; Movie Night at Great Escape Theatre, which featured the documentary Chimpanzee, and was sponsored by the Fort Campbell Federal Credit Union; The Godfather Golf Tournament held in honor of the late Colonel Art Lombardi who was stationed at Fort Campbell; and the Military Appreciation Picnic and Fun Fair.

As part of the special recognition granted to military service members during warrior week, many area businesses extend special discounts for military I.D. holders.

At the annual Military Appreciation Picnic and Fun Fair kids lined up for the opportunity to enjoy food and drink, live music, an opportunity to take the controls of real construction equipment guided by skilled operators from the Clarksville Street Department; play on inflatables; have their faces painted; meet Montgomery County’s First Responders including the Montgomery County Sheriff’s K9 Squad, Clarksville Police Department, and Clarksville Fire Rescue; and this year have their photo taken with the Tennessee Titan’s Cheerleaders.

The Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation really goes all out to make the event special for service members and their families.

Warrior Week activities are all made possible by the generous support of Clarksville-Area Chamber of Commerce members and the Clarksville community.

About the Military Affairs Committee

As early as 1970, a Military Affairs Committee can be documented in the Chamber’s history. The Vice-Chair, along with the committee members, has always worked with the Command Group at Fort Campbell to meet and provide for the families who locate within our community.  Primary objectives this year will center on welcome home events, and participate in the annual Citizens for Fort Campbell advocacy trip to Washington, D.C. in the spring, where approximately sixty citizens from Clarksville, Hopkinsville, and Oak Grove advocate for projects for Fort Campbell.

The Committee hosts Warrior Week, and has an initiative to recognize the long history of military in our area through events like the Veteran’s Day Breakfast and other programs in the area.
