Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan urges caution at Liberty Park Boat Ramps

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan is reminding the public to be cautious as construction continues at the Clarksville Marina and Liberty Park. Two ramps on the boat dock are open while the other two have been closed as the boat slips are being installed.

The dock manufacturer is storing materials and staging the construction in the parking lot at the ramp. The public should not enter their staging area and should not attempt to utilize the floating structures they are building.

“I know we are all excited about the opening of the Marina and we have already seen widespread use of the docks and the marina basin area. Especially with the beautiful weather we’ve been experiencing, it’s very inviting to go out and enjoy the area. However, safety is always our main concern. I am asking everyone to take all precaution as you are boating and swimming in the area as construction continues,” the Mayor said.

“The area has been declared a ‘no wake’ area from the mouth of the basin through the dock area,” added Jeremy Odom of the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency. “The combination of swimmers, boats traveling too fast in the area and construction could create an unsafe situation. If everyone will slow down, stay away from the construction area and keep an eye out for people around them, there shouldn’t be any problems.”

“Slow / No wake” signs will be posted in the basin area soon and enforcement will begin after that.

“The project is moving along and progress is happening daily. We want people to be able to use the basin, including the boat ramp, as much as possible but we have to make it available safely,” said Mayor McMillan. “I appreciate the people who are working to finalize this amazing park and marina complex. It is truly going to present wonderful opportunities for Clarksville.”
