Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan announces remaining Budget Schedule

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – The Clarksville City Departments have completed their presentations for inclusion in the 2012-2013 budget. The next phase of the budget process will get underway on Monday, May 7th, 2012 at 4:30pm

“Preparing and presenting our city’s multi-million dollar budget is a long process that requires input from all of the people responsible for creating revenue opportunities for the city as well as those who spend taxpayer dollars. I appreciate the time and focus our Department Heads spent in preparing their budget requests. Now the work begins to bring those requests before the City Council,” said Clarksville Mayor McMillan.

The remaining budget work days are as follows:

  • May 7th, 2012, 4:30pm: Budget working session with the City Council in City Council Chambers
  • May 14th, 2012, 4:30pm: Budget working session with the City Council in City Council Chambers
  • May 21st, 2012: Publication of the Budget Summary
  • May 31st, 2012, 4:30pm: Public Hearing and First Reading of the 2012- 2013 Budget, Clarksville City Council Chambers
  • June 7th, 2012, 7:00pm: Second Reading of the 2012-2013 Budget, Clarksville City Council Chambers Budget Hearing Schedule – 2

During the May 7th, 2012 working session, the City Council will review the proposals from all of the general government departments. An agenda for the May 14th, 2012 working session will be provided prior to that session.

“All of these sessions are open to the public. I believe that it’s vital to have an open budget process so that the citizens, the real stakeholders, can understand each Department’s role in City Government and our priorities as Clarksville continues to grow. I encourage everyone to attend these meetings or to access them later on the www.cityofclarksville.com website,” said Mayor McMillan.
