Harris One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning awarded Green Certification

Harris One Hour Heating and Air ConditioningClarksville, TN – Mike and Suzanne Harris have announced that One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning  has received their Green Certification from Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers, leading their industry in Clarksville with efforts to protect their environment.

Known for their “Always on time or you don’t pay a dime”. tagline, Harris One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning offers heating and air conditioning maintenance, installation and other services. Megan Vargas, daughter of owners Mike and Suzanne Harris, attended the CMC Green Certification Workshops and took the lead in the green initiatives.

“It took Megan to get the ball rolling; she started and made everybody aware and then when we actually started implementing everything. It has made a difference and it’s been a good thing to show our employees and to show our children and grandchildren,” said Suzanne Harris.

“It was a pleasure meeting the Harris Family and the people who work for them. Their green initiatives are impressive and I wish them success in all that they do,” said Mayor Carolyn Bowers.

One immediate visible change Harris One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning did to reduce pollution and save money was trade out their F-150 business truck for the small hybrid car (Toyota Prius) shown in the photo below. “A new car payment and paying for gas combined is still less than our gas bill alone was on the truck which averaged about $700.00 per month,” bragged Suzanne Harris.

From their lights out campaign and temperature control settings, to recycling and reusing their paper, pallets and coils, Harris One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning is seeing results in lower bills and less waste.

“We are excited about our Green Certification because now we are able to tell our community and tell our customers that we making every effort that we can to be environmentally friendly and be able to pass that on to them. Six months ago we just threw all of our paper away. I now hear the last person in our office to get a recycling bin telling other people to recycle. Once you help people to change their minds, it becomes automatic. Now people in the office are recycling and using less energy on their own,” said Vargas.

The family has future plans to change their fleet over to hybrid vehicles and to use I-pads rather than paper in the customer business transactions when possible.
