Austin Peay State University GovernorsJackson, TN – Austin Peay State University sophomore second baseman Jordan Hankins and senior pitcher Zach Toney were each named first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference, the league office announced during the postseason baseball awards banquet, Tuesday night.

The Sunburners to Perform Memorial Day Weekend at Beachaven Winery’s Jazz on the Lawn

 

Clarksville, TN – Come out this weekend to Jazz on the Lawn at Beachaven Winery featuring the Sunburners on Saturday, May 26th 2012. The music starts at 6:30pm and goes until 9:30pm. It is normally a good idea to arrive early to get one of the good viewing spots on the lawn.

The Memorial Day Weekend concert will feature The Sunburners, an island party band out of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Clarksville Gas and Water Department announces Commerce Street and Childers Street Water Outage and Road Closure Planned

 

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012

Clarksville Gas and Water DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has planned a water outage on Commerce Street and Childers Street on Wednesday at 8:00am to replace a Fire Hydrant. The outage will affect businesses and residents on Commerce Street from 5th Street to South 3rd Street and on Childers Street from Franklin Street to Commerce Street until approximately 2:00pm when work is expected to be complete.

Commerce Street will be closed to through traffic from 5th Street to Hiter Street. Childers Street will also be closed from Franklin Street to Commerce Street.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reports 2012 Spring Turkey Harvest ranked as Tennessee’s Fourth Highest

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Tennessee turkey hunters again posted another successful spring season as the harvest for 2012 again nears 34,000 as reports continued to trickle in to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

The spring turkey statewide season came to a close on May 13th.  The harvest number stands at 33,789 just shy of last year’s total of 34,026. This year’s harvest currently ranks as the fourth highest on record. The record harvest of more than 37,000 birds came in 2010. «Read the rest of this article»

Today is National Maritime Day

 

May 22nd is National Maritime Day, first declared so by Congress in 1933.

National Martime DayToday is National Maritime Day which honors the contributions of the American Merchant Marine, civilian men and women who have defended the freedom of the United States since 1775, and who collectively carried out the largest sealift the world has ever known during World War II. The day also acknowledges maritime industry’s contributions to the nation’s economic and national security.

Observance of National Maritime Day also honors the maritime industry and the benefits it brings Americans in terms of transportation, jobs, goods, and recreational opportunities. The Ingram Barge Company is but one of many Tennessee companies involved in the Martime Transportation Industry.

APSU Governors look to defend Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Crown

Austin Peay State University GovernorsJackson, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team will begin defense of its Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championship, 7:00pm, Thursday at Pringles Park.

For a second straight year, the Governors own the No. 1 seed in the OVC Baseball Championship to be held Wednesday-Sunday in Jackson, Tennessee. The Govs won the 2011 OVC title by going 3-0 in tourney play at Pringles Park.
