Nashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close lanes on Interstate 40 East and West near the Davidson-Cheatham County line to perform bridge repair work.
I-40 from mile marker 188.5 to mile marker 187.5 will be reduced to one lane in each direction beginning Friday, June 1st, 2012 at 8:00pm. The lanes will reopen no later than Monday, June 4th at 6:00am.
During this weekend’s lane closures, workers will remove and replace deteriorated concrete on the I-40 eastbound and westbound bridges that cross over the Harpeth River. Once the concrete is replaced, it will have to harden for several hours. The bridge repairs are being completed as part of a $5.2 million interstate resurfacing project. The entire project is expected to be complete by July 2012.
TDOT will use overhead and portable message boards to alert motorists of the lane closures. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays. Law enforcement officers will be on site in the work zone to provide traffic control as the work is being completed. TDOT also asks drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones across the state.
