Clarksville, TN – On Wednesday, July 18th, Clarksville’s Civil War Roundtable group will host a fundraiser at the Customs House Museum. The event will feature retired Chief Historian of the National Park Service, Ed Bearss, who will be presenting a lecture in the Museum’s Turner Auditorium at 7:00pm.
Ed is a combat wounded U.S. Marine who joined the National Park Service in the 1950s. Starting out at Vicksburg National Military Park as its historian, he rose to be the Chief Historian of the National Park Service and is retired from there as Chief Historian Emeritus. Ed is the most popular speaker on the Civil War lecture circuit today and is world renowned as a battlefield guide.
Ed has authored dozens of articles and essays for many state historical journals on Civil War topics and created all of the battlefield maps used by the National Park Service today. He has written booklets for the National Park Service as well as the definitive three volume set on the Vicksburg Campaign of 1863.
Ed has also written books on the battles of Brice’s Crossroads and Harrisburg in Mississippi and has co-written books on Vicksburg and Gettysburg. He also has an upcoming two volume set on the Petersburg Campaign.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will help the CWRT group aid in erecting a monument to Tennessee soldiers who fought at the Battle of Richmond in Kentucky. Tickets to the event are $10.00 at the door. CWRT and Museum Members get free admission. Seating is limited and will be on a first come first serve basis.
