APSU’s Tatiana Ariza and Natalia Ariza play entire contest in Colombia pre-Olympic matchup with Brazil

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Soccer

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsCHÂTEL-ST-DENIS, Switzerland – Austin Peay State University soccer players Tatiana and Natalia Ariza started and played the entire contest for Colombia in its Matchworld Women’s Cup contest against Brazil, played Saturday in Switzerland.

Colombia lost to Brazil, 2-1, with Natalia matched up for much of the contest with arguably the world’s top soccer player, Marta.

The Matchworld Cup was organized to help the four teams participating-Colombia, Brazil, New Zealand and Canada-prepare for  the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London

The Colombian team played played Canada in a pre Olympic match and were defeated 1-0. Both Arizas  played in the second half. Colombia’s final pre-Olympic tune up will be Tuesday against New Zealand in Savièse.
