Austin Peay State University Campus Police to participate in National Night Out

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University Campus Police, along with Clarksville and Montgomery County, will join cities nationwide for the 29th annual National Night Out (NNO), a crime and prevention event, on Tuesday, August 7th.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in, local anticrime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and to send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

From 6:00pm-8:00pm, August 7th, residents across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Neighborhoods throughout Clarksville and Montgomery County will hold a variety of events such as block parties, cookouts, parades and visits from police, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anticrime rallies.

National Project Coordinator Matt Peskin said, “This is a night for America to stand together to promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight to build a safer nation. On NNO, we invite neighborhoods nationwide to join us in giving crime and drugs a going away party.

National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by Austin Peay State University.
