Goodlettsville pitching held Central to 4 hits. Terron Smith was the winning pitcher going three full innings on 35 pitches.

For Montgomery Central, Luke Clayton, Ethan Peterson, Peyton Bone and Lane Coulter all one hit each.

For Goodlettsville, Chase Waller went 3-4 including two doubles and five RBIs. Ty Sutley had a double and 3 RBIs.

“I think we started off a little sluggish. Probably because we had two weeks off since our district tournament. But once we got adjusted to the pitching, we were able to get things done that we needed to,” stated Goodlettsville head coach Tommy Biggerstaff.

The third inning was big for Goodlettsville. “Sometimes we get in spurts like that. We started the inning off with a couple of good bunts. That kinda of lead to the big inning that we had. If we see a chance that to get some guys on base then we have pretty good speed to take advantage of it,” stated Biggerstaff.

“I told the guys to put the ball in play and then anything can happen and that’s kinda what lead to the big inning too,” commented Biggerstaff. “They kinda of made a couple of errors, we got some guys on base and we took advantage of it.”

Goodlettsville’s pitching was able to hold Montgomery Central to 4 hits in the game. “Terron Smith has been solid and consistent for us all year long. If he’s pitching good that kinda of sets the tone for the game,” says Biggerstaff.

Biggerstaff went on to say “Smith got us through three innings with 35 pitches. It could have not worked out any better than it did. Right at 35 pitches, we got the third out of the third inning. It saved us some pitches which really helped us out a lot.”

Kevin Bone, Montgomery Central’s head coach said “It was pretty tough loss. We played pretty well for the first two innings but we just didn’t have enough pitching. Our pitcher got sore and we had to pull him.”

Montgomery Central fielded 10 players for the game. “We were shorted handed out there today. Several of our boys were on vacation this week forcing us to play a few of our guys out of their normal positions. It also left us short of pitchers as well,” stated Bone.

“I think Goodlettsville has a good team. They fielded and hit the ball well,” commented Bone. “I think that the fact we were short a few players also got into our guys heads causing some of our errors.”

Goodlettsville moves on to play Grainger County Sunday, July 22nd at 5:00pm. Montgomery Central faces Johnson County Sunday, July 22nd at 7:30pm.

Clarksville National Little League fields are located at 408 Gaylewood Drive, Clarksville behind Barksdale Elementary School.
