USDA Agricultural Weather and Drought Update for August 16th, 2012
During the seven-day period ending August 14th, conterminous U.S. drought coverage fell to 61.8%, down from a July 24th peak of 63.9%. Week of the Eagles Basketball Tournament sees 5th Special Forces Group edge out Strike for GoldWritten by Spc. Paul Russ Fort Campbell, KY – Basketball is just one of the 14-events that took place during the Week of the Eagles, 2012. The Strike team, made up of Soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), has provided much excitement during the basketball tournament. This inter-division 3-day competition, held at Fort Campbell’s Lozada gym began August 13th. The Strike team gave fans that came out to support more than their money’s worth. The first game for the Strike Team seemed like an easy one. Strike’s Team “Lat Attack” plays hard during 2012 Week of the Eagles Ultimate Frisbee TournamentWritten by Specialist Bart Wigal Fort Campbell, KY – This year, for the first time in the Screaming Eagle’s history, the game of Ultimate Frisbee is a part of the Week of the Eagles competition. The Week of the Eagles is celebrated each year to honor the activation of the 101st Airborne Division in 1942. This year is the division’s 70th anniversary. Many ask, what is Ultimate Frisbee and the answer is quite long. The game of Ultimate Frisbee is like soccer mixed with football, mixed with hockey. It’s played with a seven-person team, on a 100-yard field with two 10-yard end zones. Clarksville Police charge Man with Criminal Attempted Homicide after Horseplay Turns Deadly
According to witnesses, friends were gathered at the residence for a dinner together. During the course of the evening, Jonathan Troy Hargadine, 49, and Jason Bennett, 20, engaged in a friendly wrestling match in which Hargadine was deemed the “loser”.
