Nashville Sounds Baseball
Nashville, TN – The cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds defeated the Sounds for the second straight evening, recording a 5-4, 10-inning victory over Nashville in front of 7,888 fans on Saturday evening at Greer Stadium.
The loss was Nashville’s second in a row following the club’s season-best five-game winning streak.
In the top of the tenth, Steven Hill got things started when he drew a one-out walk from Sounds reliever Juan Perez (4-2). Brock Peterson followed with a potential double-play grounder to shortstop but Edwin Maysonet airmailed Taylor Green at second base to allow runners on the corners with just one out.

Bowling Green, KY – Senior quarterback Kawaun Jakes threw four touchdown passes, including three in the first half, to lead Western Kentucky to a 49-10 victory, Saturday night, against Austin Peay State University in the season opener for both teams.
It was the first meeting between the two former Ohio Valley Conference rivals since 2006 but the first with the Hilltoppers as a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) program-WKU is now a Sun Belt Conference member. It also was Austin Peay’s second straight season-opening loss to an FBS team. The Govs lost at Cincinnati a year ago.
Now Accepting Regulations Comments
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) Fisheries Division announced its proposed 2013 fishing regulation changes that will be presented to the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission (TFWC) at its October meeting. The TWRA made the proposals at the August 23rd-24th meeting of the TFWC in Nashville.
The proposals cover a variety of topics including Alabama rigs, skipjack herring, wild trout streams, walleye on Cherokee Reservoir, and bass on Pickwick, Parksville and Cordell Hull reservoirs. Other proposals limit the number of commercial licenses, the addition of new commercial gear, and define waters open to commercial fishing. Jada Stotts named to All-Tournament Team
Springfield, MO – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team dropped another tight three-set match, falling to Missouri State (21-25, 20-25, 24-26) in the University Plaza Invitational finale, Saturday, at the Hammons Center.
Once again Austin Peay (2-7) was within striking distance in each set, but saw a small Missouri State (3-4) run create enough separation to secure the win.
Clarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will feature the artistic works of Rev. Lyndel Littleton September 6th-October 3rd.
Littleton, the worship pastor at Hilldale Baptist Church, has been creating musical things as long as he can remember. In this role, he creates special musical events such as the church’s annual “Living Christmas Tree” and “Passion Play.” Over the years, many of his music compositions for handbells and choirs have been published by various music companies.
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans have signed five players to their practice squad.
TE Brandon Barden, DT Zach Clayton, FB Collin Mooney, WR Michael Preston and S Tracy Wilson will remain in the Titans’ locker room. All of the players were with the Titans during this year’s training camp.
NFL teams are allowed to sign up to eight players to their practice squads.
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department’s Lt Steve Warren was recently recognized as the Top Terrorism Liaison Officer in the State of Tennessee for 2011.
Department of Homeland Security Assistant Commissioner David Purkey lauded Lt Warren for leading the state in 2011 for filing nineteen separate criminal/terrorism investigations which were accepted and disseminated throughout the state by the Tennessee Fusion Center’s Suspicious Activity Reporting Initiative.

Clarksville, TN – Nearly a year ago, Daniel Hazelton crossed the finishline at the Go Commando Half Marathon powered by CDE Lightband and became the first winner of this annual event. Now, Hazelton offers training tips and advice to all those who plan to Go Commando on October 20th, 2012.
A seasoned runner, Hazelton had already participated in countless other races prior to the Go Commando Half Marathon on October 15th, 2011. While training for the 2011 race, he was also preparing for the Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C.
