With the pair of quality starts, Burgos lowered his Milwaukee Brewers organization-leading ERA to 1.95 (37er/171.0ip) in 28 minor league outings, the 3rd-lowest mark among all minor league pitchers in 2012.

Last Wednesday against the Iowa Cubs, Burgos defeated Iowa by hurling six innings of scoreless, four-hit ball. He struck out four batters, walked none, and combined with a three relievers on a 3-0 shutout victory.

In Monday’s season finale against the Memphis Redbirds, Burgos contributed another quality start for the Sounds, scattering five hits over six scoreless frames. He departed with a 1-0 lead but took a no-decision due to a blown save by the bullpen.

He twirled six quality starts in his eight outings for Nashville, posting a 2.91 ERA at the Triple-A level while holding PCL opponents to a .224 average.

Burgos’ award is the fourth accumulated by a Sounds player during the 2012 season, following infielder Brooks Conrad (May 21-27), starting pitcher Wily Peralta (July 2-8), and outfielder Caleb Gindl (August 20-26).

The award is the second weekly honor of Burgos’ four-year career. He was previously honored by the Pioneer League in 2010.
