Grayson, who also played for the Lady Govs from 2002-04, recently completed her second season with the Lady Govs. She assisted with the development of the team’s shooting guards, including Whitney Hanley who saw improved performances each year Grayson was an assistant.

“I am happy for Jessica,” said Daniels. “This is a move that will give her the opportunity to be a head coach. I appreciate the time, energy and effort she has given to our program. I wish her continue success in all she sets out to achieve.”

Grayson returned to her alma mater after three seasons as an assistant coach at UT Martin. In her final season with the Skyhawks they reached the semifinal round of the Ohio Valley Conference championship for the first time in program history. Grayson began her collegiate coaching career at Division II Valdosta State and helped that program reach the NCAA South Regional semifinals in 2007.

During her career at Austin Peay, Grayson was a member of the 2002-03 and 2003-04 teams that won both the regular season and tournament titles. She averaged 6.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game as a senior to help the Lady Govs reach the 2004 NCAA Tournament.

Grayson’s departure leaves Daniels with a staff composed of Brooke Armistead and Jerome Jackson, who was Clarksville Academy’s head girls basketball coach prior to being hired by Austin Peay, Wednesday. A search for a replacement will begin immediately.
