Austin Peay Governors Cross Country have good showing at JSU Foothills Invitational

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Men’s Cross Country

Austin Peay State University GovernorsOxford, AL – Austin Peay State University men’s cross country team had a nice bounce back at Friday’s JSU Foothills Invitational. The Govs had two top-20 finishers and showed marked improvement from last week, finishing sixth as a team.

Junior Konnor Kessler continued to lead the charge, finishing 14th overall with a 26:58.88 mark in the eight-kilometer event. Hot on his heels was junior Tyler Kepley, who finished 18th (27:24.84) for his season’s second top-20.

Senior Geofrey Kosgei was the third Gov across the line, finishing 33rd overall with a 28:36.36 run. Freshman Austin Dabbs had the best run of his young career, finishing 42nd at 29:24.96.

“Dabbs has been getting better each week,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “He’s getting better each week. Konnor is also getting where we need him to be as a top guy.”

Junior Genaro Martinez rounded out the scoring for the Govs with a 47th-place, 30:16.33 run. Freshman David Frattarelli (49th, 30:33.92) also competed.

Austin Peay will be back on the course at next weekend’s Front Runner Invitational in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
