“We are much better team this year than a 322,” APSU coach Sara Robson said. “We hit some great shots and made some big putts, but we also had too many big numbers-that is always are nemesis.

“We have to find out why that happen. Was it us not making good decisions? I know a couple of times we did some things that we normally do differently. That hurts us.”

Tala MumfordJunior Tala Mumford, who has been playing her career’s finest golf, maintained her consistency, following up Monday’s 75 with a 3-over 75, Tuesday. That 150 left her in third place individually, three strokes out of first. Morehead State’s Melissa Kamelgarn won the event with a 147 followed by Murray State’s Alexandra Lennartson, who was at 148.

“I am extremely proud of Tala,” Robson said. “She had a great week. She scored well for us. Tala just kept it together.

“The hard work is paying off. She is playing so much more confident. It’s there for her-she just needs to keep playing like that.”

Freshman Jessica Cathey was APSU’s second best scorer again on Tuesday with an 82, finishing at 159, tying her for 17th.

Tabitha Beard bounced back from an opening-round to 86 to improve to 81 on Tuesday, leaving her at 167, the same score as fellow senior Holly Batey (79-88). A third senior, Lauren Bond could not recover from a disastrous No. 10 and finished with an 84, leaving her at 169.
