Over the two-and-a-half day drive, the volunteers raced against the clock and each other to sign up new Chamber members all while creating awareness for the organization. During those incredible few days, volunteers gave of their time and resources to to make calls, collect dues and cheer on their event team.

“We want to say thank you to everyone who helped to make this event such a success,” said Charles Foust, Jr., Chairman of the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce. “Because of the dedication of our current members, we were able to see our membership grow by recruiting 268 new businesses in record time. I appreciate all the time each of our volunteers commited.”

Facilitated by Fort Worth, Texas based, Your Chamber Connection, these type of events have been wildly popular in other cities. Your Chamber Connection group leader, Jimmy Cusano, managed the event along with the Clarksville Chamber staff. Cusano brings experience in creating high-energy events and out of the box thinking when it comes to promoting Chambers.

“It’s all about business,” said Cusano. “The Chamber of Commerce is the business community. This brings everyone together to build our Chamber. With a Membership Event, they come together in a competitive, fun setting and tell the Chamber story. When others hear about everything the Chamber does, all of a sudden you have a great deal of enthusiasm for the Chamber, and a great deal of support.”

The volunteers were broken down into teams that were each led by a volunteer chairman. There was friendly competition between not only the teams as a whole, but also the individuals on each team.  The Chamber wants to extend a special thank you to the event team chairmen, Mac Edington, Ron Sleigh, Mike O’Malley, Billy Atkins, Tim Hall, Earl Bradley and Sammy Stuard. Also, thank you to Chamber Ambassador, Julie Parks, for being the runner chairman during the event.

On the final evening, all those who volunteered were invited to a celebration reception where the top performers were honored. Sammy’s team, the blue team, was the winner of the event bringing in 75 new members. Each team also had a top individual producer who was honored. They were Alice Dube, John Rudolph, Mary Beth Russell, John Crabbe and the first place winner, Melanie Hadley, who brought in 17 new members. Congratulations to all of the winners.
