Tennesse Bureau of Investigation on Scene After Man is Killed in Clarksville Police Officer Involved Shooting

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is on scene at a Pond Apple Road residence in Clarksville, TN after a 46 old man is shot by a Clarksville Police Officer after presenting an imminent danger to the neighborhood and officers who had responded to a threats call.

On November 10th, 2012, around 5:26pm, Clarksville Police Officers were called to a Pond Apple Drive residence after 911 received a call about a man threatening to kill himself and his wife or anyone who tried to enter the residence.

Patrol officers arrived on scene and set up a perimeter around the residence to safeguard the neighborhood. The owner of the house was known to have a large quantity of weapons inside of his residence. It was not the first time officers had responded this particular residence.

The tactical team and negotiators arrived and took over the perimeter and attempted to contact the 46 year old man inside. Negotiators were able establish intermittent contact with the man, but eventually he refused to communicate further. Officers could hear shots being fired inside of the house.

The man exited and discharged a firearm several times outside of the residence, and presented an imminent threat to officers, at which time the man was shot. This occurred around 8:15pm. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the man will not be released until notification of next of kin.
