Ariza, the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, scored 12 goals and assisted on eight others in 2012, after missing the season’s first two matches due to her commitments with the Colombian National Team at the 2012 London Olympics. Her 12 goals and 32 points led the OVC.

On the national scale, Ariza finished 23rd in points per match (1.68) and 33rd in goals per game (0.63). Despite missing two games, she still finished ranked 42nd in total goals and 36th in points.

Her play helped Austin Peay lock up the second seed in the OVC tournament, where they advanced to the title match for the second time in the last three seasons.

“This award was voted on by my colleagues,” said head coach Kelley Guth. “It’s definitely great recognition for her and shows that everyone recognizes what an outstanding player she is.”

It’s the second time in Ariza’s Austin Peay career she has earned NSCAA honors. She was a first-team pick in 2010 after scoring 11 goals – including six game-winners – and assisting on five more while leading Austin Peay to its first OVC Tournament Championship appearance. Her sister Natalia owns the Lady Govs only other All-Region honor, a second-team bid in 2010.
