Mike Guerrero to Return as Nashville Sounds Manager

Skube Tapped As Coach, Dabney Returns As Pitching Coach

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Mike Guerrero, who led Nashville to a 67-77 record in 2012, will return to Music City for his second year as the Sounds’ manager in 2013, the team announced today.

Guerrero will be joined on the Nashville Sounds bench by returning pitching coach Fred Dabney and strength and conditioning specialist Andrew Emmick as well as a pair of new faces: coach Bob Skube and trainer Aaron Hoback.

The 44-year-old Guerrero, who enters his 18th campaign as an instructor in the Milwaukee Brewers organization, has compiled a  896-739 record (.548) in his 17 seasons as a minor league manager.

His 2012 Sounds club finished second in the PCL American Conference Northern Division with a 67-77 record, the 12th-best mark in the 16-team Pacific Coast League.

Dabney – who guided Sounds hurlers to a 4.29 team ERA in 2012, the 4th-lowest mark in the PCL – returns to Music City for his second year as pitching coach after spending the previous seven seasons with the Brewers’ Advanced-A Brevard County affiliate.

Skube, who played for parts of two seasons in the Major Leagues with Milwaukee during a seven-year pro playing career, will serve his first year as a coach in the Brewers organization after spending the last two campaigns as hitting coach for Triple-A Tucson in the San Diego Padres system.

A 13th-round selection of the Brewers in 1979, Skube batted .250 in 16 games at the Major League level with Milwaukee in 1982 & 1983, where he played alongside four Hall of Famers. He compiled a .276 average over 680 minor league games during his playing career.

Skube began his coaching career in 2005 within the Texas Rangers organization, where he spent two years before moving to the Padres system for the past six seasons.

Hoback joins the Sounds for his first year of service at the Triple-A level after spending the last three seasons with Double-A Huntsville. He enters his seventh year working in the Brewers organization.

Emmick returns to Nashville for his fourth season as the Sounds’ strength and conditioning specialist.
