Clarksville Fire Rescue responds to fire at The Bluffs apartment complex on Riverside Drive

Clarksville Fire RescueClarksville, TN – On Thursday December 20th, at 1:31pm, Clarksville Fire Rescue and Clarksville Police responded to a smoke alarm call at The Bluffs apartment complex located at 939 Riverside Drive.

“When units first arrived on the scene, there was no visible sign of smoke or a fire,” stated Fire Marshal Ray Williams. “Upon further investigation, some smoke was seen coming out of apartment C-19.”

When no one answered the door, CFR made entry. A small fire was found in the bedroom. CFR quickly put the fire out before it could advance to the rest of the apartment. The bedroom had fire damage but the rest of the apartment just suffered smoke damage.

Adjacent apartments had to be ventilated for smoke, but no real damage was caused.

According to witnesses, the power had been out in the area. Shortly after power was restored, they heard the smoke detector go off and could see some smoke coming out of the apartment. There was mass power outages Thursday all over Clarksville due to high winds in the area.

The apartments tenants were away at the time. There were no injuries caused by the fire.

“The electricity has cut off to the apartment and then was back on just before the fire started,” said Williams. “The cause of the fire is undetermined.”
