Austin Peay is one of 29 teams scheduled to attend this meet, including some of the better squads in the region. Charlotte, Louisiana Tech, Lipscomb, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Alabama and Western Kentucky are among the squads sending athletes to compete against the Lady Govs.

The Lady Govs had a successful first meet of the 2013 calendar year at last week’s Ed Temple Invitational, picking up three individual victories and several personal bests on the day. Senior Chantelle Grey won the 800m run with a 2:16.30 mark, which places her atop the conference and 24th nationally in the season’s early going. Grey was a big factor at last year’s Blazer Invite, winning the 800m with a 2:13.84 mark that was just off her career-best.

Several other Lady Govs have gotten out to fast starts during indoor season. Senior Jasmine Foster ranks second in the conference in the shot put at 13.83m (45′ 4.5″), putting her three feet behind conference-leader Courtney Gapelu of Southeast Missouri. Senior Cenitra Hudson (triple jump) and sophomore Erika Adams (60m dash) rank fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference in their respective disciplines.

“I feel like we’re ahead of where we were last year,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “I was pleased with last week’s results and hopefully we can make a little more progress this week.”
