Senior Jasmine Foster had a big day for the Lady Govs on day one. The Johnson City, TN native finished sixth in the shot put with a 13.36m (43′ 10″) throw, which was preceded by an eighth place, 15.34m (50′ 4″) toss in the weight throw, which was her best as a Lady Gov.

Senior Lauren Lyles had another tough defeat. After finishing eight-thousandths of a second away from qualifying for the finals in the 60m hurdles two weeks ago at the Blazer Invitational, she finished two-hundredths of a second behind the qualifiers for the finals in the 60m hurdles this week, with a personal-best 8.95 mark.

In the 600m invitational, freshman Breigh Jones placed eighth with a 1:41.34 run.

Sophomore Erika Adams had another strong day. She finished ninth with a 25.63 mark in the 200m dash, which equaled her season-best set at last week’s Niswonger Invitational. She also qualified for the finals in the 60m dash with a 7.85 mark, which earned the 16th qualifying position.

Action continues tomorrow, beginning at 10:00am at the Gladstein Fieldhouse.
