Austin Peay State University Lady GovsBloomington, IN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team struggled to get over the hump at this weekend’s Indiana Relays. Personal-bests were scarce for the Lady Govs on a weekend that featured some of the nation’s top teams.

“We missed a lot of opportunities the last two days,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “The chances we had were left on the table, and that’s disappointing.”

Senior Chantelle Grey earned a spot in the invitational of the 800m run. She did not disappoint, finishing eighth with a 2:12.86 mark.

Grey’s classmate Cenitra Hudson placed eighth in the invitational long jump, with a 5.27m (17′ 3″) leap.

Sophomore Erika Adams narrowly missed making the finals of the 60m dash. The Werton, FL native had a 7.85 mark in the semifinals, finishing three-hundredths of a second behind the finalists.

“Across the board we were pretty flat this weekend,” Molnar said. “We missed by one spot here or there. It’s discouraging, but we’ll have to get back at it next week.”

The Lady Govs are back on the track next weekend at the TSU Invitational in Nashville. The pole vault will be held Friday at the Dunn Center before the remaining action moves to the Gentry Center on Saturday.
