Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to host 4th Annual Tennessee Outdoors Youth Summit (TOYS) in Montgomery County June 9th-14th
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will host the Fourth Annual Tennessee Outdoors Youth Summit (TOYS), June 9th-14th, 2013 for high school students from across Tennessee. The students will be introduced to many outdoor activities at the event to be held at the Montgomery County Shooting Complex near Clarksville.
Among the different outdoor activities that the students will have an opportunity to become introduced to will include boating, hunting, trapping, archery, photography, marksmanship, plant identification, forestry, camping, water quality, trap shooting, skeet shooting, wildlife identification, and several classes with wildlife and fishery biology as the topic. «Read the rest of this article»

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrests Probation Officer for Sexual Contact with Female Probationer
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation last night arrested a state probation officer for having sexual contact with a probationer.
Daryell Smith, 63, of Ashland City, TN, was arrested and charged with one count of sexual contact with a parolee/probationer, a class E felony. On January 15th, 2013, the 23rd Judicial District Attorney General requested TBI to investigate allegations that Smith was having sexual contact with a female under his supervision.

Charter School and Virtual School Legislation take the spotlight this week
Nashville, TN – Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts (D-Clarksville) will propose an amendment to House Bill 0151/Senate Bill 0157 proposed by the Department of Education regarding virtual schools.
The administration’s proposal to address poorly performing virtual schools will allow the Department of Education to institute enrollment caps, or direct the local school district to close the virtual school if it fails to achieve certain student growth benchmarks two academic years in a row. «Read the rest of this article»
Fort Campbell, KY – For the approximately 103 Soldiers from the 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), this latest “Rendezvous with Destiny” ends with a reunion with their families.
The Soldiers received a hero’s welcome during a Welcome Home Ceremony at Hangar 3 at Fort Campbell after successfully completing six months of a nine-month tour in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
