Renaissance Center hosts Free Health and Wellness Fair

Presented by Renaissance Center and Lipscomb University School of Nursing

The Renaissance CenterDickson, TN – The Renaissance Center is excited to present the First Annual Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday, March 9th, 10:00am-4:00pm. The event is free and includes health screenings, consultations and education provided by the Lipscomb University School of Nursing.

Starting the day off is renowned eye surgeon Dr. Ming Wang with a “Vision Care” seminar in the Performance Hall at 10:30am. Dr. Wang will also be available for questions after the talk.

Other activities during the event include free fitness and wellness demonstrations including day long activities in the center’s Dance Studio featuring Chorographer Bryan J. Wlas and Dance Instructor Alaina Runions. Other wellness experts will be on hand as well as cooking, nutrition and artisan demonstrations and free entertainment.

Dr. Wang’s seminar will feature several eye care topics, including “Forever Young Lens”, the latest in vision surgery to reverse aging and restore a youthful eyesight.  Additionally, the eye surgeon will discuss an FDA clinical trial to treat age-related loss of near vision (presbyopia).

Wang Vision Cataract & LASIK Center is one of only three centers in the country selected by the US FDA to conduct this research and clinical trial for treatment of the condition. Attendees of Dr. Wang’s seminar will have the unique opportunity to personally meet him and ask direct questions about their individual vision concerns.

Also at The Renaissance Center that day will be five new art exhibits that honor leaders of the Civil Rights Movement as well as legends in the arts, including: Alan LeQuire’s “Cultural Heroes”, Civil Rights Photographs from the Nashville Library Archives, Nathan Evans’ “Jazz Portraits”, “Little Masters” of Dickson County Schools, and Nan Kennedy’s “Sculptural Icons”. The art exhibitions are all free.

The CyberSphere Digital Theatre at the center will also have shows that day including “Kaluoka’hina: The Enchanted Reef”, and animated full-dome movie, at 2:00pm and 7:00pm, and Laser Retro, a musical laser light show, at 3:00pm.

And the Renaissance Players Community Theatre will have a 2:00pm performance of Seussical, Jr, presented by Y.E.S. (Young Entertainers on Stage). The show is a fantastical, magical, musical adventure with Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, and a gaggle of delightful Dr. Seuss characters who try to restore harmony to the Jungle of Nool.

The Y.E.S. program is a community theatre production that features plays selected specifically for and cast totally with students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Tickets to this musical are $15.00 – adults, $12.00 – Seniors, $8.00 – Students age 6 – college, and $5.00 Children 5 and under.

10:00am–4:00pm: Health Education and seminars provided by the Lipscomb University Healthcare Professionals.

10:30am: Dr. Ming Wang on “Vision Care” in the Performance Hall.

10:00am–4:00pm: Dance and Fitness demonstrations in the Dance Studio (East Wing) with Choreographer Bryan J. Wlas and Dance Instructor Alaina Runions.

10:00am–4:00pm: Various demonstrations by artisans of the Tennessee Artisan Market.

10:00am–4:00pm: Strolling actors & entertainers from the Theatre Department at TRC.

10:00am–4:00pm: Various demonstrations and seminars by health, wellness and nutrition experts in the Art Studio (schedule TBA)

2:00pm: Live Renaissance Players Community Theatre – Y.E.S. (Young Entertainers on Stage) production of “Seussical, Jr” (Ticketed event: $15.00 – adults, $12.00 – Seniors, $8.00 – Students age 6 – college, $5.00 Children 5 and under)
