Fort Campbell Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programs for April

Fort Campbell, KY – Join Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programs as they enjoy the warmer spring weather. They’ll start the month off with a Whitewater Kayaking Pool Clinic on April 6th from 8:30am to 11:00am at Gardner Indoor Pool. Ages 12 and up are invited to participate.

Come out and let the staff work with you on various techniques which include boat selection, proper fitting, paddle strokes, bracing and even the Eskimo roll. This session is designed for all experience levels. The cost is $25.00 and preregistration is required by 4:00pm on April 4th.

On April 13th, you can Whitewater Raft the Middle Ocoee. You’ll leave at 7:00am and return at 9:00pm. Ages 14 and up may participate. The cost is $85.00 and includes transportation and equipment. During the trip, you’ll be paddling approximately 5 miles of a Class III-IV section of the river. Don’t forget to bring secured shoes (no flip flops), a sack lunch or snacks and money for dinner on the way home. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on April 3rd.

If you are interested in learning to rock climb then you’ll want to sign-up for Climbing 101 on April 16th. This clinic will meet from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on the newly constructed indoor rock wall. Ages 12 and above may participate. The cost is $10.00 and all equipment will be supplied. The clinic will cover equipment, belay instruction, safety precautions, as well as technique. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on April 14th.

Ages 18 and over are invited to go Sky Diving on April 20th. The cost is $160.00 and this includes your transportation.  The trip will leave at 7:00am and is scheduled to return around 3:00pm. However, return time may be extended due to weather or delayed jumping. Due to tandem jumps, participant’s weight must not exceed 250 pounds. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on April 10th.

Join Outdoor Recreation for a Family Floats trip on April 24th. Located in downtown Clarksville, the Cumberland River is a great location to spend the afternoon canoeing. Ages 6 and over may participate. The cost is $10.00 and includes transportation and equipment. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on April 22nd.

Virgin Falls Pocket Wilderness is located deep in the Cumberland Plateau.  Outdoor Recreation will be holding a Virgin Fall Day Hike on April 27th from 8:00am to 5:00pm. This rugged eight mile hike takes you past two stunning waterfalls before finally reaching the 120 foot Virgin Falls. Ages 14 and above are invited to participate.  The cost is $25.00 and includes transportation. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear; and bring plenty of water and snacks. Don’t forget your camera! Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on April 25th.
