Nashville Sounds announce opening day festivities

Baseball Returns to Nashville

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds kick off their 36th season this Thursday, April 4th, to begin an eight-game homestand at Greer Stadium.

The team welcomes the New Orleans Zephyrs (Miami Marlins affiliate) for four games spanning April 4th-7th, and the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Houston Astros affiliate) from April 8th-11th.

Highlighting the homestand’s worth of promotions will be Friday Fireworks presented by Great Clips, NEWS 2 Postgame Fireworks on Saturday, Sounds magnet schedule giveaway presented by Great Clips, the first Music Industry Night featuring a pregame concert by Deliberate Mishap and a pair of BURGER KING Throwback Thursdays in which the team will wear blue v-neck throwback uniforms.

Opening Day: Thursday, April 4th vs. New Orleans at 7:05pm (Gates Open at 6:05pm)

The first 2,500 fans to the Sounds season opener will receive Magnet Schedules courtesy of Great Clips. This year’s schedule features starting pitcher Tyler Thornburg, who is ranked by Baseball America as the Brewers #2 prospect.

The team will wear retro blue jerseys for the game as a part of the season-long BURGER KING Throwback Thursdays, where fans can purchase hot dogs, fountain drinks, beer, popcorn and nachos for just $2.00 apiece. In addition, fans can receive a $5.00 general admission ticket by presenting a BK receipt at the Advance Financial Box Office. College students may also receive the Throwback Thursday discounted ticket with a valid student ID.

Nashville Mayor Karl Dean will be in attendance to throw out this season’s ceremonial first pitch.

Joining the Opening Day festivities at Greer will be flagship station 102.5The Game, who will broadcast their show, SportsNight with George Plaster, Willy Daunic, & Darren McFarland, live from 3:00pm-7:00pm from the Miller Lite Porch.

Friday, April 5th vs. New Orleans at 7:05pm (Gates Open at 6:05pm)

As at the opener, the first 2,500 fans to the game Friday will receive Magnet Schedules courtesy of Great Clips, who will also present the first postgame fireworks extravaganza of 2013 at Greer Stadium.

Saturday, April 6th vs. New Orleans at 6:35pm (Gates Open at 5:35pm)

A fireworks show will follow the game Saturday night, presented by Nashville’s NEWS 2.

Sunday, April 7th vs. New Orleans at 2:05pm (Gates Open at 1:05pm)

Minor League Baseball President, Pat O’Conner, will be in attendance at Sunday’s game alongside a Rawlings representative to present Sounds first baseman Hunter Morris with his 2012 Rawlings Gold Glove Award. The presentation will take place prior to first pitch.

Every home Sunday game at Greer this season will be a Military Sunday presented by Piedmont Gas and Tennessee 811. The Sounds will wear camouflage jerseys, while servicemen/women, veterans, and their families receive $5.00 off reserved or general admission tickets with a valid Military ID; limit 5 discounted tickets per ID.

Also taking place each Sunday will be the Sounds Faith and Family Sundays, where fans can receive $5.00 off tickets by presenting a church or community bulletin at the Sounds Advance Financial Box Office; limit eight discounted tickets per bulletin.

Monday, April 8th vs. Oklahoma City at 7:05pm (Gates Open at 6:05pm)

The Sounds welcome the RedHawks to Greer for a four-game set on Monday, where fans can score hot dogs for just $1.00 apiece.

Tuesday, April 9th vs. Oklahoma City at 7:05pm (Gates Open at 6:05pm)

Coke Zero and the Nashville Sounds are partnering up this season to keep Greer Stadium and Tennessee beautiful through recycling. On Tuesday, bring one Coke Zero bottle or can to the Advance Financial Box Office for a special buy one get one free ticket offer.

Wednesday, April 10th vs. Oklahoma City at 7:05pm (Gates Open at 6:05pm)

Kicking off the Sounds Music Industry Night series for the 2013 season with a pregame concert will be Deliberate Mishap. Music Industry Night #1 is presented by School of Rock and offers Sounds fans in the music industry special game tickets and pregame drink deals. Check out @SoundsMIN on Twitter for more.

It will also be a Nashville Sounds #WebWednesday, where #SocialSounds (fans and followers of the Sounds on social media sites) will compete in contests for prizes and great offers.

Thursday, April 11th vs. Oklahoma City at 7:05pm (Gates Open at 6:05pm)

The Sounds conclude their eight-game homestand at 7:05pm on Thursday evening with another BURGER KING Throwback Thursday, where fans can purchase hot dogs, fountain drinks, beer, popcorn and nachos for just $2.00 apiece. More details above.

Following the homestand, Nashville will begin an eight-game, eight-day road trip against two division rivals, beginning with a four-game series against the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals affiliate). Nashville then travels to face the Iowa Cubs (Cubs affiliate) in a four-game set before returning to home on Saturday, April 20th to host an eight-game homestand against the Storm Chasers and the Memphis Redbirds (Cardinals affiliate).
